Conflicts and Disputes
Conflict and disputes are inevitable in life. Resentments, another person's feelings of entitlement, or simply differences of opinion can pit us against another person or entity. By examining the facts leading to a particular conflict we first provide a range of alternatives to our client. The client can then choose the appropriate response, be it legal assistance or some form of intervention.
Often, additional information or evidence must be obtained to facilitate a solution. Once the problem is fully documented with needed facts or evidence, we provide our best approach recommendations to the client. We assist the client from beginning to end, until the problem is resolved. On occasion, acceptance of what cannot be changed, such as some family estrangement situations, has to be considered. More often than not, a solution can be presented that will at least allow the client to move forward in their own life without fear of ongoing conflict. Every problem has a beginning or cause, an appropriate, well thought out response, and an ending.
We do not give up until the client is satisfied that all possible measures toward lawful means of resolution have been exhausted. Everyone has a right to live their life in relative peace and happiness. Those that would deny another that right will discover that respect for others is not just due them, but equally due from them in our society. Remembering that people may be very different, but they are always human beings at some level, is the key to success. Read our case studies for more insight into our philosophy.

Harassment and Stalking
When a person's behavior transcends simple conflict or dispute, into the realm of obsessive tactics, the level of response must be elevated. Many victims of harassment believe at first, that as with a child, ignoring unacceptable behavior will remove a perpetrator's reward and extinguish the behavior. In fact, the opposite often occurs. The message to the perpetrator is that the victim is fearful of them and will not take action to stop the behavior.
Much like a playground bully accustomed to others cowing to his threats or attacks, they become empowered and encouraged to continue without end. A single act of avoidance or attempt to pacify a perpetrator of this type may cause him to escalate ad infintim. We always recommend a "no tolerance policy" at the onset of any harassment. The common motive of attempting to control the victim's feelings through fear, leads to the conclusion that the only effective counter measure is disruption of the perpetrator's fantasy and expectation of success without interference or consequence.
The first phase is understanding the perpetrator's thought process based on background and behaviors. Next, a well planned response to include courts and law enforcement involvement, and possibly mental health experts, is prepared. Finally, with the agreement of the client, proactive measures are taken to stop the harassment. Read our case studies under this topic to see how this is accomplished.

Family Estrangement
Family issues have become a particularly challenging and prevalent area in the past few years. The dynamics of family relationships have changed considerably with the alienation hectic lifestyles cause and the reliance on impersonal means of communication. It used to be family members called others including the family matriarch or patriarch to resolve problems. As a society we are becoming more likely to let issues boil for too long until a state of estrangement occurs. Childhood disputes or resentments, divorce, blended families and a host of other separation causing events cause us to forget where we came from.
At some point in our life we begin to seek connection. Perhaps we want to learn more about or meet with birth parents or siblings lost to adoption or divorce. Perhaps we have lost touch with a family member or other significant person due to misunderstanding, the nature of which we have no knowledge.
First we may need to find the person in question. After attempting to locate your family on the many internet sites promising easy results you may be tempted to give up. Not yet. The internet will never replace investigation by a person with experience. Give us the information you have and let us help. Clients are often surprised how quickly a focused search by a knowledgeable investigator ends in success. The next decision is if and how to make contact. We assist our clients in making contact as well as successful reunification. Of course this is not always possible. At least the client will know they did what they needed to do for resolution in themselves. Often a parent or other family member has been looking for the client. Many people do not realize that organizations, such as the Salvation Army, have resources to connect those trying to find each other such as birth parents. We will help you find the best solution for your particular situation. Read our case studies under this topic for examples of how we might help you.

Missing Person
Missing persons investigation involves finding out where someone is currently and or what happened to them. Everyone has to be somewhere. If someone has disappeared under suspicious or unknown circumstances, it is not necessarily a foregone conclusion that nothing further can be done.
Law enforcement must balance the demand for help with available resources. They often do not have the time to follow cases indefinitely. By the nature of their work they are often forced to turn their attention to new cases they can more likely solve. The more difficult or "cold" cases get shelved until and unless new information develops.
A fresh review of all known facts has often solved these cases. Many times, an important piece of evidence has been inadvertently overlooked. No investigator, law enforcement or private, sees everything, every time. Sometimes it is a matter of timing and pure luck.

Domestic/ Child Custody
Leaving a bad relationship can be difficult and sometimes dangerous. Women are particularly vulnerable immediately following making the announcement they want to end the relationship. If children are involved the risk can be increased exponentially. A custody dispute can damage children emotionally for life.
Law enforcement and the courts are overwhelmed by those needing help in this area. Careful planning prior to any action or announcement is critical. According to one client, "You are the master of exit strategy!"
First we make sure you and your children are safe and protected. Every action and possible outcome must be considered and planned. Finally, the exit must be accomplished without unnecessarily enraging the other party or walking away from personal belongings or other rights. Read our case studies for examples of how it's done.

Insurance Claims
While often issues involving insurance claims require specialized legal counsel, many questions arise during the claims process which can be addressed. Questions as to how an incident resulting in damage or injury can be investigated and documented fall into this category. Witnesses can be discovered by knowing where to look, and most importantly, how to approach potential witnesses who may be reluctant to become involved. Having conducted thousands of interviews concerning every kind of event resulting in an insurance claim, we can assist in quickly and effectively documenting the client's case should the claim not be satisfactorily resolved.
Often, failure to properly investigate soon after an event occurs, results in permanent loss of critical evidence. Not all cases will require aggressive investigation. We also advise clients as to when they may be worrying needlessly. We can offer helpful advice regarding your claim and help alleviate some of the anxiety in an area most of us have no prior experience handling. You may just need some knowledgeable reassurance or referral. We will try to help you as much as possible short of offering legal or medical advice.
